ich möchte das komplette wurzelverzeichnis / inklusive allen versteckten dateien und so, also alles.

Reicht der befehl:

scp -r / Ziel

IMO ja, kannst du, schön. was war die frage bzw. was steht davon nicht in der manpage?

im ernst, teste das halt mal mit einem unterverzeichnis des root.

hidden files müssen allerdings AFAIK mit einem . im verzeichnis angegeben werden.

wozu man allerdings komplette dateibäume mit sämtlichen special files kopieren wollte, wird mir nicht klar.

Komplettes Backup eines Remoteservers z.B.?

So wurde in der letzten Firma der Rootserver gesichert, allerdings mit rsync.
