Mein Problem: Der Rechner erkennt meine NEUE Maxtor 40GB IDE-Festplatte nicht.

Ich habe ein p3 500 auf nem Asus-Board(P2B-F).

Wenn ich per autodetect nach der Platte suchen lasse sucht er und sucht und sucht und sucht... und hoert nicht mehr auf.

An was kann das liegen?

wie aktuell ist das bios? hatte das schon öffter, dass ältere boards mit grösseren platten erst nach einem biosupdate umgehen können

mmh, das bios ist ziemlich alt...

1998, v 4.51.

Dann probiers ichs halt mal mit nem bios-update.

Das habe ich zwar noch nie gemacht, aber wird schon irgendwie gehen. ;)

asus hat da eine ziemlich gute anleitung, wenn du die befolgst, geht seltenst was schief.
