Was versteht ihr/man unter Browserabstraktion?

Ist "Browserabstraktion" ein offizieller Begriff, den man auch in einer Präsentation o.ä. gut verwenden kann?

Der Begriff ist mir bisher nur im Zuge von Web-Libraries untergekommen, die Browser-spezifische Funktionen kapseln, so dass man abstrakt - in diesem Kontext also ohne genauere Kenntnis des tatsächlichen Browsers - zuzugreifen.

Heute ist das mit den Browser-Switches (oder Weichen) nicht mehr ganz so schlimm, aber nichtsdestotrotz wird das heute gerade in Frameworks, wie Prototype, etc immernoch gemacht.
