MS SQL Server 2008 Express lässt sich nicht installieren

Hallo,

ich habe die Aufgabe, auf einem Server (Win Server 2003 R2) MS SQL Server Express zu installieren. Die Installation bricht mit dem Fehler 1203 ab. Die Recherche bei MS hat mich auch nicht weiter gebracht. Powershell, Installer 4.5 und .net 3.5 sind erfolgreich installiert.

Jetzt sagte mir ein Bekannter, dass dieses Problem immer dann auftritt, wenn bereits eine ältere Instanz (MSDE oder 2005) installiert ist bzw. war. Ich hatte zwischenzeitlich mal 2005 installiert und wollte den upgraden, aber dies funktionierte auch nicht. Derzeit läuft noch Veritas Backup Exec 9.0, was ja glaub ich auch noch so eine Express-Variante benutzt.

Kennt jemand das Problem bzw. hat da Ansätze dafür?
