Kann mir jemand erklären was das Bootp Protokoll genau macht? Ich weiss momentan nur, dass es was mit DHCP zu tun hat.

Also, afaik ist bootp der vorgänger von DHCP.

Der Unterschied besteht soweit ich weis darin, das

mit bootp nur IP und Netzmaske übermittelt werden und

keine zusätzliche Infos wie DNS etc...

Man möge mich korrigieren, wenn ich falsch liege.. :)

bootp (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc0951.txt?number=951) ist auch wie DHCP ein Protokoll zum Konfigurieren eines Endsystems. Allerdings werden nicht nur IP-Adressen und Netzmaske übertragen sondern auch noch verschiedene andere Informationen, dazu gehört auch der Dateiname der Datei, die übers Netz gebootet werden soll, Gateway, Netzmaske usw., wobei einige der Daten in zusätzlichen RFCs standardisiert sind. Z.B. in http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1542.txt?number=1542
