Modem läuft unter WinXP, aber nicht unter Win98SE

Hi! Ich habe bei einem Kumpel mein altes Modem eingebaut! Ich habe WinXP auf meinem Rechner und da lief das Modem einwandfrei, das Modem ist auch erst 2 Monate alt (Conexant Modem)! Bei meinem Freund aber stürzt der Rechner ab, wenn er sich ins Internet einwählt, woran kann das liegen?

Es ist ein internes Modem welches auf einem PCI-Steckplatz steckt!

Das hat nichts mit Netzwerke zu tun. Ist eher ein Hardwareproblem.

Hast Du andere freie PCI-Slots ausprobiert?

Bei vielen Boards wird der IRQ eines oder mehrerer Slots mit dem AGP- bzw (wo noch vorhanden) mit dem ersten ISA-Slot geshared.

Was ist das genau fuer ein Board (Hersteller, Modell und Revisionsnummer) mit dem das Modem nicht zusammenarbeiten will?
