Hallo Leute,

Windows NT und 2000 benutzt in der Standarteinstellung ja nur 256kb L2 Cache. Besteht dieses Problem eigentlich bei WinXP immer noch ?

Ich habe bei meinem WinXP System den Cache per Hand auf 512KB hochgestellt.

Danach lief das System merklich schneller.

Kann das wirklich noch sein ?

Auf die Schnelle habe ich nur das hier gefunden:

Wenn Windows XP den L2 Cache des Mainboards nicht richtig erkennt, wird ein Defaultwert von 256 Kb gesetzt. Scheinbar erkennt XP "nie" den richtigen Wert!

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -- SYSTEM -- CurrentControlSet -- Control -- Session Manager -- Memory Management

SecondLevelDataCache

für 256kB Level 2 Cache den Hex Wert von 0 eintragen (Voreinstellung)

für 512kB Level 2 Cache den Hex Wert von 200 eintragen

für 1024kB Level 2 Cache den Hex Wert von 400 eintragen

hab grad mal nachgeschaut und siehe da, der Wert ist schon auf 200 gesetzt :cool:

Bei mir stand er auf 0, habe ihn jetzt manuell auf 0x200 gesetzt.
