Worin liegen die Unterschiede zwischen der RAW und LPR Druckeransteuerung?

Hallo! Ich hätte da mal eine Frage!

Es gibt das RAW Protokoll und das LPR Protokoll um Drucker anzusteuern.

Worin liegen die Unterschiede?

Problem: Grafikdruck unter RAW Protokoll ätzend langsam, unter LPR Protokoll geht das richtig fix!

Ich weiß zwar das LPR für Plain ASCII also 7 Bit spezifiziert ist, und das der Druckjob auf dem Server erst Lokal gespoolt werden muss. ( Die größe des Druckjobs muss ja ermittelt werden )

Warum geht das trotzdem schneller als unter RAW, wo ja sozusagen alles Roh verarbeitet wird?

Kann mir da jemand weiterhelfen?
