USB Scanner unter gentoo?

Hallo,

ich habe einen USB Scanner der Firma Medion (MD 6228), den ich nun auch mit meinem gentoo-Linux nutzen möchte. Allerdings wird dieser nicht von xsane oder scanimage -L erkannt, von sane-find-scanner jedoch schon.

Kann mir jemand sagen, warum?
