Ich habe mir jetzt mal die folgenden Seiten angesehen:

und

http://www.ilove.de/

beide Seiten verwenden irgendwelche .do Dateien wenn man mal auf einen Link klickt.

Was ist das für eine Sprache oder wird nur php mit MOD_REWRITE umgeschrieben?

Die Welt besteht nicht nur aus php. ;)

Eine URL muss nicht eine Datei identifizieren.

*.do ist die Standard Endung für Aktionen beim Apache Struts Framework. (Java) Dies ist aber nur ein Mapping. Es gibt auf der Platte keine .do Dateien.

Du kannst auch *.oneside Dateien als PHP Dateien einstellen :D Alles nur Einstellungssache ;)
