Es gibt manchmal sog. bigmem-Kernel, die dann auch mehr als 4 GB packen. Ist kein Problem bei Linux, auch bei 32 Bit nicht.

Nicht das gesamte Spiel Schach, sondern nur ein Pferd, das alls Felder des Bretts (genau) einmal besucht. Das Brett muss nicht 8x8 gross sein.

Die Frage ob 32Bit oder 64 Bit wurde vor über 10 Jahren beendet!

Du übersiehst zwei Sachen: Zum einen konnte man damals 32bit-Betriebssystem auf mancher Hardware ausdrücklich nicht installieren, z.B. auf der HP9000 L2000 siehe HP L1000 and L2000 (rp5400/rp5450) Servers - OpenPA.net

Zum anderen gehts hier um Linux und nicht um Kommerz-UNIX.

Vermutlich um Linux auf der "PC-Plattform x86/x64/...", also mit den Windows-Kompatiblen Prozessoren. Kein SPARC, kein PA-RISC.
