Debian Etch 4.0 + MySQL - Root-Kennwort funktioniert nicht

Hi zusammen ...

beim Einrichten von MySQL hat mich Debian nach dem Root-Kennwort gefragt. Hab ich eingegeben ...

aber beim Anmelden nimmt er's nicht mehr an ...

mysql -u root -p funktioniert NICHT mit meinem Passwort

Was kann ich denn jetzt noch machen? Da wohl ein anderes Passwort (Tippfehler?) drauf ist, kann ich's auch mit mysqladmin nicht ändern.

Habt ihr 'ne Idee?
