Hi,

Rockridge Extensions machen IMHO die CD bootfähig, oder bin ich jetzt auf dem falschen Dampfer?

Hallo Marcus,

Daniel ist leider auf dem falschen Dampfer. Die Spezifikation die CDs bootfähig macht heißt El Torito. Rockridge ist ein Dateisystem, das es unter anderem erlaubt symbolische Links mit auf eine CD zu packen. Die Distribution von SuSE ist im übrigen auf CDs mit dem Rockridge Dateisystem

Rockridge macht noch mehr, z.B. überhaupt lange Dateinamen erlauben. Standard ISOfs macht nämlich nur 8.3 Filenamen. RR steht also im direkter Konkurrenz zu Microsofts Joliet Extension.
