S.M.A.R.T.

Abkürzung für "Self monitoring, analysis, and reporting technology" • Selbstdiagnose bei Festplatten, um Datenverluste vorzubeugen. Dabei werden Parameter wie Flughöhe der Köpfe, Durchsatzrate, Positionierungszeit und Anzahl der Fehlversuche beim Lesen/Schreiben überwacht. Dieser Industriestandard wurde von IBM und Compaq initiiert.
