Kann ich an einem Cat5 Kabel ne Gigabit Lan Karte anschliessen ? Bzw. kommen da überhaupt 1000 durch ? Kann man das mit einem Tool testen ?

Ich habe nämlich ein paar Server hier stehen wo ich mir nicht sicherbin ob die eine Gigabit Anbindung haben... Nen Tool zum testen wäre echt hilfreich.

CAT5 ist nicht geeignet für GbE. CAT5e und höher schon. Im einfachsten Fall auf Fehlerstatistik am Switch schauen. Bei hoher Anzahl von Fehlern könnte das Kabel, die NIC oder der Port am Switch ein Problem darstellen. Performancemessung geht am einfachsten mit NetIO. Einfach mal Google befragen. Allerdings wirst du kaum 125 MB/s durch die Leistung bekommen. Unter Windows sind mit CIFS/SMB 50 bis 60 MB/s realistisch.

ich kann auch einfach zum switch gehen und gucken bei welchem port die gelbe lampe leuchtet :P d.h. nämlich das dort nur 10 - 100 Mbit durchgeht.... ^^ warum einfach wenn´s auch kompliziert geht :P
