Hallo,

ich soll hier im Betrieb jemanden erklären was ein EAR File ist. Ich weiß ja das man das braucht um eine Anwendung auf einen Server zu deployen. Aber ich bräuchte es etwas genauer.

ein EAR file ist - mal nur von der Datei her betrachtet - ein zip-Format mit der Endung ear.

Vom Inhalt her besehen ist ein ear ein Container für eine J2EE-Applikation. In diesem ear befinden sich EJB jars, helper classes, evtl. war oder rars und deployment descriptoren.

Alle diese Sachen kann man als Applikation in einem ApplicationServer deployen und hat somit eine Anwendung im Context des AS.
