    MTBF berechnet sich aus MTBF = (Zeit)/(Anzahl der Fehler) Zu beachten ist, dass Festplattenfehler (idealisiert) von einander unabhängig sind. Wenn also über 800000h 1 Festplatte im Durchschnitt 1 Fehler hat folgt, das im Schnitt über 800000h 2 Festplatten 2 Fehler haben. Bereits ein Fehler führt allerdings bereits zum Komplettausfall. Würde man also 2 Festplatten 800000h laufen, würde man im Durchschnitt 2 Fehler erwarten. es ergibt sich folgendes: MTBF_2 = 800000h/2 = 400000h Es erschließt sich leicht das für n Festplatten gilt: MTBF_n = MTBF_1/n
