Problem mit JXDatePicker

Hallo liebe Forengemeinde,

in meiner GUI habe ich JXDatePicker eingebaut, um sehr leicht ein Datum erfassen lassen zu können. Nun habe ich folgende Probleme:

1. Wie kann ich dieses Feld auslesen, welcher Wert dort eingetragen ist? Bei einem normalen Textfeld lese ich den Wert mit .getText(); aus.

2. An bestimmten Stellen muss ich dieses Feld wieder auf "" zurücksetzen. Wie kann ich das realisieren? Bei einem normalen Textfeld mache ich ganz einfach .setText(""); und die Sache ist erledigt.

Vielen Dank schon mal im voraus.
