Hi!

Weiß jemand, ob der Windows Installer von irgendeinem anderen Dienst abhängig ist? Wenn ich ihn unter Windows 2000 Server starten will bekomme ich die Fehlermeldung "Der Dienst Windows Installer konnte auf Lokaler Computer nicht gestartet werden / Fehler 5: Zugriff verweigert"

Womit kann das zusammenhängen?

Nein, die Rechte sind es nicht.

Laut Remote Task Manager (hier zu finden) besteht keine Abhänigkeit zu einem anderen Dienst.

Schau aber mal, ob der Dienst als Systemdienst läuft und nicht als irgendein User, dessen Passwort sich geändert hat.

Er läuft als Systemdienst.
