Vielleicht ... wiki sagt:

Die Industrie wertet die Qualifikation eines "Staatlich geprüften Technikers" zwischen Meister und Dipl.-Ing., wobei der Techniker durch seine meist vorausgegangene praktische Berufsausbildung sofort ohne lange Einarbeitung in der Wirtschaft eingesetzt werden kann. Auch sein praktisches Denken ist in vielen Bereichen von Vorteil.

Manchmal lügt wiki, manchmal nicht. Ist wie bei jeder Weiterbildung eine Frage, was man individuell daraus macht. Auf jeden Fall baut der Techniker auf eine Ausbildung auf.
