*mal wieder mein FuSi-Scenic-Rechner*

Der hat ne onboard-LAN .. funzt einwandfrei ..soweit so gut

CPU ist ne PIII 733

OS XP SP2

Nun die Frage:

ist es ratsam die Onboard-NIC gegen eine PCI-NIC zu tauschen um den Prozessor etwas zu entlasten?

oder braucht eine Onboard-NIC nicht mehr CPU-Resourcen als ein PCI-NIC?

Die Onboard-Nic ist schon eien 10/100 NIC ... also auch vom Datentransfer im LAN reicht sie ansich völlig

Das hängt immer von den Gegebenheiten ab.

Eine über den Chipsatz angebundene Netzwerkkarte onboard belastet den Rechner üblicherweise weniger, als eine Billig-PCI-Karte für 10 Euro, während eine gute Karte wie die Intel Pro 100 oder 3Com 3C905 auch als PCI recht flott sind.

Bevor wir hier im Nebel stochern, nenn doch mal bitte die Boardbezeichnung, dann wissen wir, worüber wir reden.
