Lösung: Oracle 8.1.7 Installationsproblem

Hallo,

ich wollte heute Oracle 8.1.7 unter Windows 2000 installieren.

Dabei hab ich das Setup aufgerufen, der Splashscreen ging auf und das wars dann. Weiter wollte er nichts mehr machen.

Dann hab ich erfahren das dies mit einem weiteverbreitetem Fehler zusammenhängt.

Nun hab ich den Fehler gepostet aber da ich die Antwort oder Lösung gleich kenne hab ich mir gedacht stell ich sie hier halt mal mit rein.

Es muss einfach eine Datei umbenannt werden.

Wenn diese nicht mehr da ist funktioniert es.

Vielleicht hilft es ja jemandem.

Wer zum Teufel kommt da drauf, dass es am Prozessor hängt?

Oracle Universal Installer version 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier versions

(bundled with products in 8.1.X CD packs).

Platforms Affected

Any platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with

Sun JRE and Symantec JIT will encounter this problem. Windows NT, Windows 2000,

and NetWare operating systems are confirmed to be affected.

Description

~~~~~~~~~~~

The Oracle Universal Installer hangs when installing Oracle 8.1.x Server

products on machines that use Sun JRE and Symantec JIT.

A special note specifically for the Windows platforms: OUI versions earlier

than 1.7.1.9.0 will encounter this problem.

Likelihood of Occurrence

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Any Oracle Universal Installer 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier installation on a platform

that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the Sun JRE and Symantec Just in

Time Library (JIT) will encounter this problem.

Possible Symptoms

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The failure is manifested in these ways:

- The affected application simply terminates.

- The installer hangs, quits, dies or disappears.

- The hourglass appears, disappears and nothing else happens.

Workarounds

~~~~~~~~~~~

Workaround 1:

1. Obtain the OUI application (~17.5MBs) under patch number 1507768 in

Metalink:

a. Click Patches button

b. Enter 1507768 in the Patch Number field

c. Click Submit

d. Download the patch

2. Unzip the patch.

3. Unzip the contents to a directory (~20MBs).

4. Navigate to:

\cd\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin\symcjit.dll

Rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.dll.old

5. Invoke the OUI executable from the following directory, and install the

OUI to your hard disk:

cd .\cd\Disk1\install\win32\setup.exe6.

Use/Invoke this installed OUI from Start menu > Programs, to install

Oracle 8.1.x and related products.

Workaround 2:

1. Create a temporary directory on your server.

2. Copy the entire contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD

to the temporary directory created in step 1.

3. Search the directory structure created in Step 1 for the existence of

the filename symcjit.dll.

4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.

5. Run the setup.exe from the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle

8.1.x and related products.

Workaround 3:

If you continue to experience any of the symptoms after performing either of

the workarounds above, follow these steps:

1. Copy the contents of the \install directory to a temporary directory on

your harddisk.

2. Search for all copies of the 'symcjit.dll' file, and rename them to

symcjit.old'.

3. Go to the \install directory and open the 'oraparam.ini' file for

editing.

Please note this file is write-protected.

4. Change the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS parameter to

JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms16m -mx32m

5. Save the oraparam.ini file.

6. Start the installation again.

Patches

Currently there is not a patched Installer available to deal with

this problem. One of the workarounds listed above must be used.

also ich hatte nen Dual Pentium III mit je 700Mhz, 1024MB SD-RAM.

ne compaq kiste DL380. 6x 9.1 GB Festplatten (SCSI U2W) im RAID 1+0

ja doch genau das. wo sollt ichs denn sonst her haben *g*

ne aber mal im ernst. wir haben hier in der firma einige kisten laufen wo es dieses problem gab. und wir haben keinen einzigen P4-server!

also is schon öfter aufgetreten.

unsere erfahrung zeigt das wenn der CPU-takt z.b. nur 0.1 höher liegt als er soll das dieser fehler auftritt und so. is aber ne andere abteilung die das gecheckt hat.

INSTALLER:

der installer (oui) hat sich auch öfter mal aufgehängt und 3-4 anläufe gebraucht bis er richtig gestartet ist.

NEUER FEHLER: bei der Patch-Installation von 8.1.7 kam bei mir der fehler das er die datei: "ociw32.dll" nicht schreiben konnte. nach ein wenig hin und her haben wir die alte umbenannt und den patch noch mal gestartet dann gings!

Bei uns heißt die Lösung. Internet Explorer 6 installieren und danach Oracle für P4 Rechner. Dann läuft es sofort.

cool. wir haben nämlich noch 5er drauf.

nur auf systemen wo er wirklich gebraucht wird ist der 6er

was wir bei uns machen ist folgendes:

die oracle 8i oder kleiner auf Platte kopieren (also den inhalt der cd)

dann ne oracle 9i cd nehmen. starten. und an der stelle wo nach dem herkunftspfad gefragt wird den pfad der platte nehmen. so das er die 8i installiert.

oracle läuft dann. nur die ganzen tools (z.b. storag manager) tun net.

dazu muss man in allen *.cl dateien des %orahome% verzeichnisses den parameter -nojit eintragen.

es gibt sogar nen patch von oracle dazu. aber der hilft halt mal rein garnix.

Es gibt doch nun diesen Artikel in dem MetaLink, der beschreibt wie es zu lösen ist.

Wieso macht ihr euch das Leben so schwer?

weil es trotz der 3 Workarounds immer noch Fälle gibt, in denen es bei uns nicht funzt. Und mit dem Installer von Vers. 9i tut es immer. Also ich habe noch keinen Fall erlebt, das es dann nicht ging. Und wenn ich die 8i CD schon auf Platte habe, kann ich ja auch den installer von Vers. 9i nehmen.

also ich finde die idee an sich erst mal nicht schlecht.

eigentlich zählt ja nur das die datenbanken "richtig" installiert sind und dann laufen.

und der eine hilft sich so der andere so. auch wenns mal etwas umständlicher ist
