I qualified as FIAE in June 2023 and still work at the company where I did my internship. My experiences were similar to that of Spunkee. The Umschulung teaches the basics of being a Fachinformatiker and concentrates mainly on preparing for the exams, by doing exam after exam of previous years. The first 2 months were a complete waste of time, we did a “Computer Führerschein” which was the very basics of using a computer and some Office programs. It was pretty shocking to see how some people had been given a place on the course, yet seemingly had never used a computer in their life. There are then people on the course that are there because they have been sent by the job centre and have to be there. They aren’t really interested in learning that much in the class and have no interest in then learning at home, which in my opinion is necessary during the Umschulung. The people that are self motivated and have some experience with computers will find an internship place easier and will also have a far better chance of getting a job within the industry once the Umschulung is completed. The internship is in my opinion the most important part of the Umschulung. I learnt so much in mine. Unfortunately, this is down to chance if you get into a good company or not. I had a class mate that was self motivated, getting really good grades but ended up in a bad company and learnt next to nothing in the internship. They didn’t find a job after the Umschulung. I’m so happy and grateful that I got the chance to re-train and work in a field that I really enjoy now. I would therefore advise anybody that has the opportunity to do an Umschulung to take it, but only if they’re committed, motivated and prepared to sacrifice some free time in the evenings/weekends.

Leider hört es sich wie ein scam aus. Ich werde nicht schockiert, wann du Mindestlohn bekommst und eine bestimmte Kurs machen muss, die durch der AG angeboten ist und extrem viel kostet.

I did my Umschulung as a foreigner but my German was at C1 level. The only time I had slight problems and found the German difficult to understand was with the exam questions set by IHK, but the native speakers also had trouble interpreting what the questions wanted! The Arbeitsamt will test your German (along with maths, logical thinking, spacial awareness) before allowing you to retrain, if you pass that then you should be fine. I think most colleges for Umschulungs are hit and miss, it really comes down to the teachers at the time. I did mine at Didact in Munich, mainly because the classes were all on site with no virtual classes. In general they were ok, some teachers were replaced whilst I was on my internship so the quality of teaching changed a little. The most important thing about an Umschulung, in my opinion, is the internship, you really need to find a good company that is going to take the time to teach you. Unfortunately for some of my class mates they had bad experiences in their internships and struggled to get a job once the Umschulung ended. The internship really is a great chance to get your foot in the door, so I’d recommend researching companies and applying for an internship early on in the Umschulung, don’t leave it too late that you have to take what you get.

Hi all, ich brauche ein bisschen Rat. Ich habe vor ein paar Wochen meine Umschulung zum FIAE erfolgreich abgeschlossen und meine Praktikumsbetrieb haben mich übernommen. Ich bin aber ganz ehrlich nicht 100% zufrieden mit die Aufgaben die ich bekommen habe und wie der Zukunft hier aussieht. Ich arbeite jetzt im 2nd level Support und muss Kunden Probleme beheben oder weiterleiten. Der Firma hat ein e-commerce platform und die Kunden sind Shop Betreiber. Da Englisch meine Muttersprache ist, habe ich auch die Aufgabe Anforderungen von deutsch auf englisch zu übersetzen und an extern Entwickler zu geben. Ich bin an keine Projekte beteiligt und habe wenig Aufgaben die mit programmieren zu tun hat. Der anderer der mit mir in support arbeitet ist seit ein paar Jahren mit der Ausbildung fertig, aber macht ausschließlich Kunden Support. Das möchte ich nicht, weil ich denke ich werde ihrer system gut lernen, aber meine programmieren Fähigkeiten werden sich nicht wirklich verbessern. Sind meine Tätigkeiten normal für ein frisch qualifizierte FIAE? Oder ist meine Frist berechtigt? Danke im Voraus!

Danke an alle für die Tips. Ich hatte gestern meine mündliche und es ist gut gelaufen. Ein paar tricky fragen die ich nicht gut beantworten könnte aber die meisten könnte ich. Meine Präsentation ging gut, nur habe ich bisschen schneller geredet und war nach 13.5 Minuten fertig. Ich habe heute meine Note bekommen, 89 für die mündliche und 81 Gesamtergebnis

Hallo zusammen, ich habe nächste Woche meine mündliche Prüfung und bereite mich vor. Ich habe mich bis jetzt gut vorbereitet aber weiß in die Prüfung Situation werde ich nervös und vergesslich. Wie ist es in die Prüfung, kann ich auf meine PowerPoint gucken, um zu erinnern was ich zu der Folie sagen muss? Oder muss ich im Richtung die Prüfern die ganze Zeit schauen?

IHK München FIAE ist auch da. Bin wirklich erleichtert mit meine Ergebnisse. Habe 64, 56 und 84 bekommen.

Bei meine Praktikumsbetrieb, wo ich übernommen werden, arbeiten die auch mit ein selten benutzte Sprache. Am Anfang hatte ich wirklich Zweifel ob ich diese Stelle nehmen soll, genau aus diesem Grund. Aber ich habe schnell gesehen, dass die Sprache nicht am wichtigsten ist, sondern die Art wie man programmiert. Jetzt sehe ich das als Vorteil, erstmals weil ich eine Sprache kenne die nicht so häufig benutzt ist und dadurch mehr verlangen konnte (bei Jobs mit diese Sprache) und zweitens ein anderer Sprache wird viel einfacher zu lernen wegen die programmieren Grundsteine die ich im Praktikum gelernt habe.

Vielleicht, oder weil du FISI bist? Bei mir steht einfach “zugelassen” statt eine Datum.
