"Unmountable Boot Volume" Message When Entering Windows XP
ISSUE: When starting the computer in either Normal mode or Safe mode, you receive the message: "Unmountable Boot Volume", and you are unable to enter Windows.
RESOLUTION:
Start the computer to the Recovery Console, and then run Chkdsk /r.
Note: If you receive a message that the password is not valid, first verify that you are typing it correctly. If it still does not work, continue to the next step.
After the test is complete, attempt to start the computer and enter Microsoft® Windows® XP. If the computer enters Windows XP, the issue is resolved. If not, continue with step 3.
Run GWSCAN to test the hard drive.
Note: If you receive a FAIL on the GWSCAN test, contact Gateway with the results.
